Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger—if we didn't feel it, we couldn't protect ourselves from legitimate threats.
A Phobia is an exaggerated and often disabling fear usually unexplained to the person and having sometimes a logical but usually an illogical or symbolic object or situation.
