YOUR TASK:
Today you will read articles, watch videos, and take notes as you decide on the best points to argue for whether or not having exotic pets is a good idea. You will need to know both sides and will be assigned as to which side you will present.
As you take notes, remember to:
1. Cite textual evidence to support analysis. (as well as inferences drawn from the text. )
2. Determine the meaning of unknown words and phrases as they are used in a texts you are reading.
3. Think about the author’s point of view or purpose in the text and explain how it is conveyed in the text.
4. Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in the texts, distinguishing claims that are supported by reasons and evidence from claims that are not.
STANDARD: 6.W.1. Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.
a. Introduce claim(s) and organize the reasons and evidence clearly.
b. Support claim(s) with clear reasons and relevant evidence, using credible sources and demonstrating an understanding of the topic or text.
